Point of Pride: University of Arizona Center for Rural Health / by Joe Furia

In the midst of the statewide opioid crisis the University of Arizona Center for Rural Health has received $2.2 million in grant funds to fight opioids. In partnership with the ADHS Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System UA Center for Rural Health will work in rural Arizona communities to instruct emergency medical services personnel, first responders, and family and community members on screening, briefly intervening and referring to treatment. This training program funded by the grant has the potential to save hundreds of lives in our state.
