The benefits of AzHHA membership
AzHHA's strength comes from its members. By joining the Association, your organization will become part of a powerful advocacy that works to bring positive change in Arizona's healthcare environment. You and other healthcare professionals from your organization will also have additional opportunities to help shape the industry's direction by participating in AzHHA councils, committees, workgroups and special task forces that are formed to drive positive change in healthcare in Arizona.
How AzHHA works for you:
AzHHA advocates for its members at the state and federal levels on myriad issues that impact the delivery and regulation of healthcare in Arizona. The Association's advocacy agenda is driven by strategic priorities which are established by its members. These priorities have included such critical topics as addressing the physician shortage, expanding the capacity of nursing education, and easing emergency department crowding. AzHHA builds and sustains strong relationships with state and federal lawmakers and regulatory officials as part of its targeted efforts to advance its advocacy agenda.
AzHHA's Communications team directs a comprehensive media outreach program designed to tell the hospital community's collective story and deliver its messages to the public. Driven by AzHHA's strategic initiatives, the Association's communications efforts are shaped by its advocacy agenda. The communications team produces a variety of e-publications, including alerts to PR staff with analysis of reports, message points and current healthcare issues. Interactive Web sites keep members informed and up-to-date on issues that affect the healthcare environment on both the state and national levels.
Learning is a central benefit of AzHHA membership, and AzHHA's strategic focus - advocacy, finance, patient safety, regulatory, workforce - shapes its educational agenda. Whether these educational experiences take place in a traditional conference setting, in an online forum, as part of a roundtable, or in another format, they are designed to stimulate innovative thinking and share best practices to help members take their healthcare organizations to the next level.
Arizona's hospitals turn to AzHHA to advocate for their financial health in a variety of settings - the Arizona Legislature, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Congress, Medicare and the managed care arena. Recent initiatives have included a Managed Care Task Force which addressed the lack of timely payments from various payors; a new Phoenix-area Wage Index that positively impacts CMS payments to hospitals; and a modification to the Disproportionate Share Hospitals (DSH) payment plan, which benefits numerous small, rural hospitals in Arizona.
- Healthcare Staffing Solutions:
Like most complex problems, Arizona's healthcare workforce shortage requires creative thinking and long-term commitment to solutions. AzHHA has embraced this challenge and is committed to helping its member organizations acquire and retain a highly qualified workforce of dedicated healthcare professionals

AzHHA members can locate high quality, supplemental healthcare staff available from approximately 150 local and national agencies by accessing a single registry. With patient safety as its top priority, our rigorous process verifies the credentials of registry pool workers; including their education, work experience, skill level and references. Our registry is one of the few programs in the nation that validate compliance through on-site audits.
- Preferred Vendor Program:
AzHHA helps its members take the guesswork out of selecting vendors for products and services that are vital to their day-to-day operations. Based on the needs identified by our members, our Preferred Vendor committee carefully evaluates a variety of vendors and only awards "Preferred Vendor" status to those that demonstrate the capacity to deliver great value and service to AzHHA members.
