You and other healthcare professionals from your organization will also have additional opportunities to help shape the industry's direction by participating in AzHHA councils, committees, workgroups and special task forces that are formed to drive positive change in healthcare in Arizona.

How AzHHA works for you:

  • Public Affairs:
AzHHA advocates for its members at the state and federal levels on myriad issues that impact the delivery and regulation of healthcare in Arizona. The Association's advocacy agenda is driven by strategic priorities which are established by its members. These priorities have included such critical topics as addressing the physician shortage, expanding the capacity of nursing education, and easing emergency department crowding. AzHHA builds and sustains strong relationships with state and federal lawmakers and regulatory officials as part of its targeted efforts to advance its advocacy agenda.
  • Communications:
AzHHA's Communications team directs a comprehensive media outreach program designed to tell the hospital community's collective story and deliver its messages to the public. Learning is a central benefit of AzHHA membership, and AzHHA's strategic focus - advocacy, finance, patient safety, regulatory, workforce - shapes its educational agenda. Whether these educational experiences take place in a traditional conference setting, in an online forum, as part of a roundtable, or in another format, they are designed to stimulate innovative thinking and share best practices to help members take their healthcare organizations to the next level.
  • Finance:
Arizona's hospitals turn to AzHHA to advocate for their financial health in a variety of settings - the Arizona Legislature, Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), Congress, Medicare and the managed care arena. Recent initiatives have included a Managed Care Task Force which addressed the lack of timely payments from various payors; a new Phoenix-area Wage Index that positively impacts CMS payments to hospitals; and a modification to the Disproportionate Share Hospitals (DSH) payment plan, which benefits numerous small, rural hospitals in Arizona.

AzHHA members can locate high quality, supplemental healthcare staff available from approximately 150 local and national agencies by accessing a single registry. Our registry is one of the few programs in the nation that validate compliance through on-site audits.

AzHHA helps its members take the guesswork out of selecting vendors for products and services that are vital to their day-to-day operations.
