  1. What is the AzHHA PAC?
    A Political Action Committee (PAC) is an entity through which private citizens with similar political philosophies pool their resources to have a greater impact on the political process than individual contributors. AzHHA PAC provides financial support to candidates for election in Arizona and is regulated by the office of the Secretary of State and the Federal Elections Commission. AHA PAC provides the financial support for congressional candidates and is regulated by the Federal Election Commission. A portion of your personal contribution to AzHHA PAC is transferred to the AHA PAC for support of federal campaigns. One hundred percent of your contribution is used to support Arizona candidates.
  2. What can the AzHHA PAC do for me?
    As a hospital or health system employee, you and your job are affected by a wide variety of policies established at the federal, state and local levels. Your AzHHA PAC contribution helps to support candidates who demonstrate concern for issues important to you, your employer, and the job that you do.
    • Supports legislative candidates who will work to ensure healthcare delivery is available to your community.
    • Holds policy makers accountable for their positions on healthcare issues.
    • Provides an organized and effective political action technique for members who wish to participate in the political process.
    • Promotes discussion of healthcare issues between the provider community and those who make public policy.
    • Encourages active participation in the political process by members of the healthcare field.
  3. Who may donate to the AzHHA PAC?
    Any private citizen may exercise his or her right to make political contribution to any organization or candidate. However, the AzHHA PAC is required by law to restrict its solicitation to AzHHA staff as well as hospital and health system: executives; administrative personnel; and trustees (and their families).
  4. What are the levels of participation?
    • Ben Franklin Club ($1,000 or more)
      Your contribution of $1,000 or more opens the door to the AzHHA PAC Ben Franklin Club. This entitles you to all of the benefits of the Capitol Club (see below), an invitation to AHA's Capitol Club Gala Reception with members of Congress in Washington, D.C., as well as an invitation to the Annual AHAPAC Ben Franklin Club Reception in Washington, D.C., which includes a high-level, politically connected special guest. You will also receive an AHAPAC Ben Franklin Club lapel pin and exclusive gift. In addition, you will receive recognition at all AzHHA and AHA functions.
    • Chairman's Circle ($500 or more)
      AzHHA members can now join the AzHHA PAC Chairman's Circle. In addition to the benefits of Capitol Club Membership, a $500 contribution entitles Chairman's Circle members to an exclusive AHA Annual Meeting reception with the Capitol Club speaker, preferred seating at the luncheon, AHA's Chairman's Circle pin, and special recognition at all AzHHA and AHA functions.
    • Capitol Club ($250 or more)
      With a contribution of $250 or more, you receive recognition as a Capitol Club member in AzHHA publications, an invitation to the AHA Capitol Club Luncheon in Washington, D.C., regular updates from the AzHHA PAC and special recognition at AzHHA events and meetings.
    • Players Club ($150 or more)
      A contribution of $150 or more entitles you to be included in the Players Club. You will receive recognition in a special publication at the end o the PAC year, regular updates from the AzHHA PAC and special recognition at AzHHA events and meetings.
    • AzHHA PAC Contributor
      All contributors will receive recognition in a special publication at the end of the PAC year, as well as regular updates from the AzHHA PAC.

  6. Who decides how AzHHA PAC monies are distributed?
    The AzHHA PAC is governed by AzHHA's PAC Board of Directors with guidance from AzHHA staff recommendations. The Board makes the final decision as to which candidates AzHHA should support and routinely supports candidates based of Association member recommendations.
