Earlier this week, the RAISE Family Caregivers Act, was signed into law. This represents a significant step in providing better support for the estimated 18 million caregivers of older adults in the United States. This new law requires the Secretary of Health and Human Services to develop, maintain and update a national family caregiving strategy that will offer resources and educational opportunities to family caregivers. This is important to hospitals as a strategy to support their staff and community members’ caregiver burden as well as to reduce and readmissions. For more information, contact Sandy Severson.
