PHOENIX — “A quality education system – starting with great teachers – goes hand-in-hand with improving public health. It is with this principle that AzHHA endorses Governor Ducey’s plan to significantly boost investments in Arizona’s public schools, including providing a 20 percent pay increase for teachers by 2020.

“We applaud the governor and legislative leaders who’ve helped craft a proposal that provides necessary funding for Arizona schools while keeping hospitals whole and protecting Medicaid as a vital safety net for Arizona families. This is a plan that legislators should get behind.

“Approximately 87,000 people work in Arizona hospitals around the state. Our kids attend Arizona schools. Our families have a stake in the strength of Arizona’s healthcare system. The Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association is proud to support a budget plan that ensures necessary funding for each core state service.”
