Helena Whitney,  BSW, MSW tapped to lead development of policy positions.

PHOENIX, ARIZ. (Sept. 10, 2024) — The Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association (AzHHA) Tuesday announced Helena Whitney, BSW, MSW joins the team as senior vice president of policy and advocacy. Whitney will lead the development of policy positions on behalf of AzHHA member hospitals by tackling priority issues facing our members including addressing unfair and abusive health plan practices and working to strengthen the healthcare workforce.

“As a leading voice in healthcare policy and advocacy statewide, I am thrilled to have Helena leading our health policy priorities to improve Arizona‘s healthcare system,” said Ann-Marie Alameddin, president and CEO of AzHHA. “Her extensive background in the healthcare community and knowledge of state and federal health policy will provide a seamless transition to lead the policy and advocacy team and continue the excellent work members have come to expect from AzHHA.”

AzHHA is the statewide association for hospitals and healthcare leaders devoted to collectively building better healthcare and health for the patients, people and communities of Arizona.

Whitney has deep expertise in both Arizona and federal health policy as well as an understanding of health policy and programs in other states. Notably, she most recently served as an associate principal at Health Management Associates (HMA), a prominent nationwide healthcare consulting firm. Whitney started her health policy career at the Arizona Legislature serving as a senior health and human services policy advisor in the state House of Representatives. She also worked at the University of Arizona Health Network as the vice president of government relations & legislative affairs. Whitney received her Master of Social Work degree with a concentration in public policy and her Bachelor of Arts in Social Work degree from Arizona State University.
