2019 Salsbury Award winner
Brian Turney received the 2019 Salsbury Award to honor his long-standing commitment to improving healthcare in Arizona. At the time, he was the president and CEO of Kingman Regional Medical Center and holds the distinction as being one of the longest serving hospital CEOs in Arizona’s history. His ability to lead Kingman in navigating the ever-changing landscape of the healthcare delivery system while at the same time advancing improved health policies that benefitted the whole of the state.
“Brian has been very active and instrumental in the growth and success of AzHHA serving on the Board of Directors from 2001-2009, including one year as the AzHHA Board Chairman, and seven years as Chairman of the AzHHA Nominating Committee,” said AzHHA President and CEO Ann-Marie Alameddin. “He is a healthcare leader who demonstrates outstanding service and unselfish purpose while advancing healthcare and increasing its access for patients throughout Arizona.”
The 2019 Salsbury Award was presented to Turney during the 80th anniversary Arizona Hospital Leadership Conference on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, in Tucson, Ariz.
Bio: Brian Turney
Brian Turney served as the president and CEO of Kingman Regional Medical Center for 25 years and retired in 2020. Turney joined Kingman Regional Medical Center as an administrative resident in April 1985 and became interim CEO in August 1994. He was appointed the hospital’s permanent president and CEO in February 1995.
Turney served for eight years on the AzHHA Board of Directors, including one year as chairman. He also received the American Hospital Association’s Grassroots Champion Award for his healthcare advocacy efforts in 2017.
