Cheryl K. Roth

Dr. Cheryl Roth has been a nurse for 43 years and worked in all areas of women’s health since 1981. She is currently a nurse practitioner in HonorHealth, working with Sonoran Crossing, Osborn and Shea’s obstetrics units. Her duties include clinical oversight of the antepartum high-risk unit, responsible for all nursing research projects on her units and assisting with education. As coordinator of the Coordinated Care Program for Complex Moms and Babies, she manages an innovative program to support patients with high-risk diagnoses during pregnancy, delivery and throughout the postpartum stay. Dr. Roth has served on the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses National Board of Directors and was the 2019 president of the board. She has presented both internationally and nationally on many topics, including fetal monitoring and high-risk pregnancy. Dr. Roth has multiple publications in journals including Nursing for Women’s Health, Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, & Neonatal Nursing, Journal of Nursing Administration, Nursing Forum and The American Journal of Maternal/Child Nursing.

Development of an Antepartum & NICU Acuity Tool to Help You Meet the 2022 AWHONN Staffing Standards

While use of acuity to make appropriate nurse:patient assignments is necessary, there have traditionally not been many high-quality tools available. The newly developed tools presented during this presentation have established validity and reliability. This presentation will discuss the elements of the Antepartum and NICU Acuity Grids, how the tools a can be used to help meet the 2022 AWHONN Staffing Standards, the electronic documentation of the tools, and variations of use and case studies. Tools will be made available to attendees after the presentation.
