The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) announced last week that Arizona is experiencing a large outbreak of hepatitis A, similar to other areas of the country. According to ADHS, nearly 340 cases have been reported in seven counties, and two people have died. Healthcare providers should ensure all at-risk patients are vaccinated.

At-risk patients include individuals:

  • experiencing homelessness or unstable housing

  • who use drugs

  • recently incarcerated
