Arizona Transition to Practice Program: Apply now for the February 2025 cohort!
Applications are now open for the fourth Arizona Transition to Practice Program for New Graduate Registered Nurses cohort beginning in February 2025.
- Any Arizona healthcare facility licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services that hires new graduate registered nurses may apply.
- Priority is given to critical access hospitals or hospitals located in counties with a population of less than 500,000 people.
- Hospitals with existing 12-month Transition to Practice programs are not eligible.
Why it matters: The Arizona Transition to Practice Program:
- Supports and develops new nurses.
- Provides evidence-based professional development.
- Accelerates the novice nurse to a competent nurse more rapidly.
- Addresses resilience and emergency preparedness.
👉Applications are due Monday, Dec. 16, 2024.

Deadline approaching: Healthcare Leadership Academy applications
The deadline for the 2025 cohort of the Healthcare Leadership Academy (HLA) is fast approaching! Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024.
Why it matters:
- The AzHHA Foundation partners with Creighton University to provide healthcare leadership and management education to employees of AzHHA member hospitals.
- This is a unique opportunity to equip mid-level managers with the management and leadership skills necessary to build organizational sustainability and prepare your hospital for the future, while also investing in your up-and-coming leaders to encourage retention and build “bench strength.”

Length: Seven months of virtual learning are bookended by in-person sessions beginning in March 2025 and culminating in November 2025.

Curriculum: 16 modules covering health policy and law, HR, financial management and more.

Cost: $8,500, which includes all course instruction and materials as well as registration for the AzHHA Foundation’s 2025 Arizona Hospital Leadership Conference to occur in October.

Complete the Arizona Bioscience Roadmap survey
The Flinn Foundation and SRI International are working with Arizona leaders to design the third iteration of Arizona’s Bioscience Roadmap, which has guided development of our bioscience sector since 2002.
- SRI has launched a survey to understand Arizona’s bioscience ecosystem competitiveness, talent pipeline, organizational needs and research and commercialization challenges.
Why it matters: The survey is essential to build the new roadmap.
- The survey is lengthy; it will take approximately 20 minutes to complete, but your voice will help guide the development of the new roadmap.
- Anyone whose work touches the biosciences can complete this survey.

Arizona Health Improvement Plan quarterly update
On Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2024, the Arizona Department of Health Services released its quarterly Arizona Health Improvement Plan (AzHIP) update (July - September 2024) outlining key priorities.
Why it matters: Each priority has established teams that are working to implement the strategies and tactics defined in the plan. The priorities are:
- Health equity
- Health in all policies/social determinants of health
- Mental well-being
- Pandemic resiliency and recovery
- Rural and urban underserved health
