HRET HIIN Update by Joe Furia

Vicki Buchda, Director of Care Improvement

AzHHA’s Hospital Innovation Improvement Network (HIIN) hospitals, along with over 4,000 of our nation’s hospitals have joined the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to create safer hospitals and health systems. The overall goals for HIIN programs are to reduce harm and readmissions through Safety Across the Board (SAB), which involves three key imperatives: Culture, Strong Safety Processes and Engagement. SAB is not prescriptive, but emphasizes building capacity for safe, reliable care. In Arizona, through the work of the AzHHA HIIN hospitals over the last 24 months, 762 harms were prevented, and almost $10 million dollars were saved. In addition, AzHHA HIIN is proud to be a sponsor and founding member of the 7th Annual Adda Alexander Patient Safety Conference which will be held on November 2nd.
