Midterm Elections Are Upon Us by AzHHA

Gregory Ensell, Vice President, Government Relation

In five days, voters across the state will go to the polls to choose the elected officials who will make decisions on issues ranging from healthcare to education and from transportation to taxes. It’s critical that everyone’s voice is heard. Below, please find our check list to ensure your vote is counted.

  • Have a ballot but haven’t mailed it?
DON’T MAIL IT. It’s too late. The last day to safely return a ballot by mail was October 31st. Instead you need to drop it off at a polling place on Election Day or an early voting location before the 6th. The Citizen’s Clean Elections Commission has a helpful voting dash board that lists early voting locations you can visit before the 6th and your Election Day polling place. https://www.azcleanelections.gov/en/voter-dashboard

  •  Voting in person?
It feels good to do somethings the old-fashioned way. In addition providing the location of your polling place the Citizen’s Clean Elections Commission website lists the candidates you’ll get to choose from and helpful information on their backgrounds and positions on key issues.  https://www.azcleanelections.gov/en/voter-dashboard

United Healthcare to Offer a Mobile Service Program by AzHHA

Jim Haynes, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

UnitedHealthcare is excited to partner with AzHHA to introduce and offer their Claims Mobile Service Center which would enable hospitals to bring claims to a United Healthcare representative for on-the-spot resolution. This program allows providers to send a spreadsheet of claims to UnitedHealthcare four weeks ahead of a scheduled event for detailed research and, if appropriate, adjustment. Resolution for the claims on the spreadsheet will then be discussed with you by one of their Claims Adjusters and your Provider Advocate on the day of the event.  All Hospital Systems interested in this event should contact Jim Haynes by November 15, 2018. He will work with UnitedHealthcare to set a location and date after the first of the year based on the interest shown.

Point of Pride: Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital by AzHHA

Green Valley Hospital entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in early 2017,was sold and in July 2018 emerged from bankruptcy. The facility’s new name is Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital and last week they held a community open house and ribbon cutting. Now they are looking to grow their workforce and serve the local community. "We're staffed and ready (for the influx in winter population) and look forward to adding more employees back in," Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital CEO Kelly Adams told the Arizona Daily Star. "I talk with patients every day, and they say they're tired of going to Tucson for their healthcare," Ms. Adams said. "This encourages us to bring more physicians in and more services."
