2022 Salsbury Award winner

Judy Rich, RN, MSN, received the 2022 Salsbury Award to recognize how she makes every decision with the patient’s best interest in mind and always leads by example. She models leadership through spoken and unspoken words while making sure the environment is conducive to engaging discussion and a collaborative outcome.

“Judy demonstrates outstanding service and unselfish purpose while advancing healthcare and increasing its access in Arizona,” said Ann-Marie Alameddin, president and CEO of AzHHA. “Over the years, she has been very active and instrumental in the growth and success of AzHHA. Judy served on the Board of Directors – including three years as the AzHHA Board Chair. We are so grateful to her for all that she has done for the state and for the patient-centered, servant leadership that she embodies. Judy inspires so many of us in putting people and patients first.”

The 2022 Salsbury Award winner was announced on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at the 2022 Arizona Hospital Leadership Conference in Tucson, Ariz.


Bio: Judy Rich, RN, MSN

Judy Rich, RN, MSN, most recently served as the president and CEO of TMC Health and retired in April 2024. She served in that role since 2007, when she set the trajectory for continued growth and clinical excellence for the organization. Under her direction, TMC and TMC Health established a legacy of leadership in the Arizona hospital and healthcare industry, with an unwavering focus on patient-centered care, growing into a four-hospital community healthcare system that includes one of the region’s largest physician groups.

Rich served on many boards during her career including the American Hospital Association, the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association, Vizient West Coast and the Southern Arizona Leadership Council. She has been a consistent leading voice advocating for increased access to quality healthcare, including the successful bipartisan campaign to restore and expand Medicaid in Arizona.

She received an undergraduate degree in nursing from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y., and a graduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
