2024 AIM Collaborative Conference
Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024
8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Creighton University Health Sciences Campus
3100 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85012
This event will focus on efforts to enhance care for maternal mental health conditions, reduce the stigma around substance use disorders (SUDs) and improve support across healthcare environments, including care for neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS) infants. Attendees will hear from engaging speakers on the latest in evidence-based maternal healthcare, and receive tools and clinical advice to overcome barriers to high-quality and equitable care.
The big picture: In 2023, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention identified perinatal mental health conditions as the top preventable cause of pregnancy-related deaths, affecting more than 20% of perinatal individuals.
- These conditions lead to negative outcomes for mothers, infants and the wider society, including complications during pregnancy and after childbirth.
Additionally, SUDs, especially from opioids, present the greatest stigma and risk during the perinatal period.
- NAS cases, resulting from in utero drug exposure, are rising, leading to higher hospital costs and significant risks for affected newborns.
Attendees will include clinicians and executives from hospitals and birthing facilities, leaders from state agencies, community partners, not-for-profits, tribal healthcare and students.
