Arizona Transition to Practice Program for New Graduate Registered Nurses starts seventh cohort
The Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association (AzHHA) is proud to announce that the seventh cohort of the Arizona Transition to Practice Program for New Graduate Registered Nurses has commenced.
The program supports and develops new nurses, provides evidence-based professional development, accelerates the novice nurse to a competent nurse more rapidly and addresses resilience and emergency preparedness.
“As we start our seventh cohort, it’s a powerful reminder of what’s possible when we invest in new nurses and the difference it makes in communities across the state,” shares Karen Ofafa, EdD, MPH, BSN, R.N., vice president of Workforce and Clinical Excellence at AzHHA. “We’re building more than skills; we’re building confidence, connection and a sense of belonging for nurses starting their careers. And by prioritizing rural and critical access communities, we’re helping ensure that every Arizonan has access to compassionate, well-prepared nursing professionals.”
The seventh cohort of the program includes:
- 11 new graduate nurses
- 11 preceptors
- Five participating facilities
The Arizona Transition to Practice Program for New Graduate Registered Nurses is the first program that promotes the overall retention of registered nurses statewide. AzHHA works with a national curriculum vendor, OpusVi (Latin for workforce), to deliver this program. The Arizona Transition to Practice Program is made possible by funding and support provided by the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) and the Governor’s Office.
