AzHHA Quality Awards
The annual AzHHA Quality Awards celebrate and recognize Arizona’s leaders committed to advancing healthcare through exceptional quality performance, community engagement and a culture of continuous improvement.
Awards are given out for Top Overall Excellence, Clinical Excellence and Outstanding Patient/Community Impact.
Winners are selected from five classifications:
- 25 beds or less (including, but not limited to, critical access hospitals)
- 26-100 beds
- 101-300 beds
- More than 300 beds
- Specialty hospital (behavioral health, surgical, long-term acute care, freestanding ED, other)
Each year, these awards are presented at a luncheon at the Arizona Hospital Leadership Conference.
Applications for the 2026 AzHHA Quality Awards will open in the spring.
2025 award winners
Thank you to everyone who submitted an application for the 2025 AzHHA Quality Awards! These nominations reflected the tremendous work happening across our state to keep advancing outstanding care for all Arizonans. In 2025, awards were presented for Top Overall Excellence, Outstanding Patient/Community Impact and Clinical Excellence. Winners were selected from five classifications: 25 beds or less (including, but not limited to, critical access hospitals), 26-100 beds, 101-300 beds, more than 300 beds and specialty hospital (behavioral health, surgical, long-term acute care, freestanding ED, other).

Top Overall Excellence Award winner Havasu Regional Medical Center.
Top Overall Excellence Award (recognizing the highest achievement among the top scorers from each category): Havasu Regional Medical Center for its submission titled “Improving Nurse Retention Through Residency Program.”
Outstanding Patient/Community Impact Award (recognizing healthcare facilities that have made a direct and measurable difference in patient outcomes)
- 25 beds or less (tie):
- San Carlos Apache Healthcare Corporation for its submission titled “Womens’ Health-Mammogram Screening.”
- Sage Memorial Hospital for its submission titled “Chizh for Elders.”
- 26-100 beds: Valley View Medical Center for its submission titled “Back to Basics: A Drive to Improve Hand Hygiene Compliance to Reduce Infections.”
- 101-300 beds: Havasu Regional Medical Center for its submission titled “PIVO Utilization to Reduce Blood Culture Contamination in a Community Hospital Emergency Department.”
- More than 300 beds: Tucson Medical Center for its submission titled “Tucson Collaborative Community Care.”
- Specialty hospital: Cornerstone Specialty Hospital Tucson – now called Vista Specialty Hospital of Tucson for its submission titled “Our High Reliability Journey: Liberating our Patients.”
Clinical Excellence Award (recognizing healthcare facilities and teams that achieved outstanding results in clinical workflows, workforce and process improvement)
- 25 beds or less: Mt. Graham Regional Medical Center for its submission titled “Improving Med/Surg Outcomes: RN Retention and Safety Through Mindful Practice.”
- 26-100 beds: Valley View Medical Center for its submission titled “Building the Future Healthcare Workforce in the Community.”
- 101-300 beds: Havasu Regional Medical Center for its submission titled “Improving Nurse Retention Through Residency Program.”
- More than 300 beds: Onvida Health for its submission titled “Transition to Practice Program.”
