Spanning a 39-year career at Honorhealth, Mary Luster, is the Senior Clinical Director for HonorHealth’s Scottsdale Shea Medical Center’s, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Pediatrics. Mary obtained her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Viterbo College in La Crosse, Wisconsin and her master’s degree in Leadership from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Mary manages approximately 140 FTE’s between her departments.  Mary is committed to improving the care provided to infants and children.  She has been a board member for the Arizona Perinatal Trust since 2013.  She recently was also elected to the Arizona Perinatal Trusts executive board as the Vice President. 

Development of an Antepartum & NICU Acuity Tool to Help You Meet the 2022 AWHONN Staffing Standards

While use of acuity to make appropriate nurse:patient assignments is necessary, there have traditionally not been many high-quality tools available. The newly developed tools presented during this presentation have established validity and reliability. This presentation will discuss the elements of the Antepartum and NICU Acuity Grids, how the tools a can be used to help meet the 2022 AWHONN Staffing Standards, the electronic documentation of the tools, and variations of use and case studies. Tools will be made available to attendees after the presentation.
